Confessions of a Pastor
Part of being human is being made for community. We can’t exist without others to help remind us who we are. This means that we all live our lives out loud to a certain degree.
I happen to live at a louder volume than most.
(And I don’t mean my decibel level – which is also louder than most – sorry, not sorry).
Living out loud is not something I take lightly.
Rather, I think carefully about what I share from pulpits, post on the internet and share on my podcast or blog. Before sharing, I consistently ask myself: Is this going to help people be drawn closer to the Kingdom of God, or not?
Recently, I have heard others express what it means to them to see me, as a woman in ministry, and an urban missionary live out loud through various mediums. Having the opportunity to encourage, inspire, or empower others is such a deep honor.
There are some things that I feel compelled to share, some stories that feel meaningful to share – that just aren’t quite right for a sermon or a instagram post.
That is why I am starting “Confessions of a Pastor”.
A monthly letter, sent right to your inbox, where I can turn up the volume of these stories I feel compelled to share. A place where I can offer the backstory and more of the context to some of my experiences that I must confess have happened!
Sometimes these confessions will be…
confessions of a reluctant pastor
confessions of an impatient pastor
confessions of a discouraged pastor
confessions of a passionate pastor
confessions of an inspired pastor
It will depend on what I discern is right to share.
I would love to send you my #confessions – if you promise to hold them with care 🙂

If you want to pass some of YOUR #confessions back my way, I’d love to hear them!
ALSO: I will be including in these letters information and updates about my journey of becoming an author BEFORE I am able to share them online!

Wow Steph, this is awesome. I look forward to hearing more, and reading your book.
Thank you!!
Thank you so much for your willingness to share these confessions. As a single female who is battling the fears that have come with discerning the call to ministry, I have enjoyed following you. I come from a background where as a women I could only have a specific role in ministry and it has been encouraging to see you live out loud.
Thank you!
Amy
I’m SO glad Amy! This is why I do what I do when it comes to “living out loud”!
Yes Steph!!!!!
Thanks friend!
Yes. (But honest question…can you please have Aashish remix Usher’s “Confessions” as a series theme song for this? Because I’ve been humming it ever since I saw this title on Facebook…)
Hahaha! That’s hilarious. And… yes.
I would love to follow you in this journey. Though you are light years away from my age, I feel there is much I can learn from you and your experience in this modern wold. God has gifted you to connect with others in this way and you are in a unique place to demonstrate God’s love for people from all walks of life. I am excited to see you grow in faith and love.
Than you Kay! You are such an encouragement to me!
Congrats on the book contract!!!!! You are living my dream.
Thanks Thompson! I appreciate your support more than I can say!
Very interested to see how your experience as an urban pastor parallels or diverges from mine as a rural pastor. Appreciate your willingness to share.
Yes! I am sure that there are some big differences and also some surprising similarities! I admire those who work in rural areas so much. It is not easy work I am sure!
